![]() with the cable attached get the "Port does not exist" / "Interface not found" error dialog for all ports not selected for use in the VAG-COM, the USB serial port with COM port appears on Win device manager ![]() with the cable detached get "Port does not exist" / "Interface not found" error dialog for all ports tried in the VAG-COM, the USB serial port with COM port also disappears off Win device manager ![]() + Cable is the USB type (my understanding of this is that modern Windows will pick this up and install it as a virtual serial port off the USB and therefore there should be no need to start trying things out like com0com virtual serial port freeware per my initial googling suggested.although I did have a look)īoth my latest greatest laptop (3 month old Sony Vaio on Win7) and this older IBM machine definitely "see" something on the USB, when doing the VAG-COM setup test: ![]() + VAG-COM 409.1-US (which came supplied on the cd with the cable) Ok so getting the impression that the cable I've bought might be (albeit suitable for the stuff I want to do) an old simpler version of the full on cable offered by this crowd Ross-tech and mightn't play too well with latest minute laptop.so I've gone back to a 2 year old IBM Lenovo T410 laptop (corporate type machine, no fancy hardware or gizmos etc) running:
